Religious Education (PreK-5th Grade)
“Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Matthew 19:14
The Religious Education program at St. Francis Xavier exists to partner with parents in the essential work of passing on the Catholic faith. As the Church teaches, parents are the first catechists of their children. One of the greatest gifts a parent can give is a deep and lasting relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church.
Our philosophy is that religious education begins in the home, and we, as a parish, provide added support to what is already happening there. Our weekly classes are meant to assist—not replace—what children receive at home. We are here as a resource to help you place Christ at the center of your family life. Please let us know how we can support you in this mission.
Religious education is a lifelong journey, not something that ends at Baptism or after First Communion. We encourage children to participate in faith formation beginning in Pre-K and continuing through High School so they can grow in their knowledge and love of God at every stage of development.
For the 2025-2026 school year, children in Pre-K through 5th grade will meet on Sunday mornings from 9:45 to 11:00 AM, and will be placed in classes by grade level. The curriculum will include Scripture, prayer, and core teachings of the Catholic Church in age-appropriate ways. Children in 2nd grade will also prepare for and celebrate First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion during the year.
The 2025–2026 catechetical year begins on Sunday, August 17. We look forward to walking with your family as your child grows in faith, understanding, and love for Christ and His Church.
